This is a wonderful grant program that connects us with other similar programs across the state. We have a lot of reporting requirements and paperwork for this grant, which is why you keep receiving more paperwork from us!

Student goal sheets are an important part of our program, and they are written into our grant. Tutors, please use this goal sheet to talk about goals with your student this week, and then fill it out and return it to us next week. Paula included some very good information on how to choose a good goal. If your student has trouble identifying her goals, please have her take one of the yellow half-sheets from the shelf and bring it home with her to think about for the next week. We will be asking at the end of the school year whether your student has accomplished or made measurable progress towards her goal.

ELLIS is another important part of our program that is included in our grant reporting. 1) Nadine will begin training all Longman students and their tutors on ELLIS this week, 2) then she will teach new tutors, and 3) she will be doing “door knocks” and checking on everyone else. You should all hear from Nadine about ELLIS in the coming weeks. Tutors, please check your emails regularly. If you need extra help with ELLIS in the meantime, please email Nadine.

For any students who are feeling afraid because of immigration policy changes:

We do not share your personal information with anyone. We do not share your photos without your permission, and we do not ask you where you live.

You are safe in this building.
