Learn English

The Dominican Literacy Center offers one-on-one ESL tutoring for immigrant women who want to improve their English skills. Each student is assigned her own tutor who will work with her personally for up to three years.

Become a Citizen

The Dominican Literacy Center offers morning and evening classes for men and women who are preparing to apply for U.S. Citizenship and take their Naturalization test to become new U.S. citizens.

Volunteer to Tutor

Approximately 150 volunteer tutors come to the Center every week to partner with women who wish to learn to read, write, and speak English. All tutors receive 15 hours of training and on-going support from the Dominican Literacy Center staff. Tutors meet with students weekly, using ESL books, writing exercises, conversation practice, grammar exercises and a computer program provided by the Literacy Center.
