Ways to Help

The Dominican Literacy Center is an organization that was built to inspire and motivate. Women at the Center come here to learn English through the help of volunteer tutors. The building in Aurora, however, was not always the establishment that it is today. The DLC began from the bottom, literally. Basement classes started at St. Nicholas Church; after a year the Center needed more space and found a new home at the present location. The Dominican Literacy Center, over the years, grew into a functioning, well-known organization. Through the hard work and dedication of the sisters, other board members as well as tutors, the DLC continues in their efforts to help serve the community in the most caring way. The center relies on donations to function. By donating to the DLC, you will give the women and their families the opportunity to grow as well as participate in their communities. Donations will also give the women the necessary resources and tools to learn English as efficiently as possible..

Please help women and their families learn to read, write and speak English by donating $25, $50, $100 or your desired amount to help us provide CD’s, maps, ESL books, other library books and computer software for the women who are making an effort to learn English.
